As a security guard at Hebei North University (HBNU), 52-year-old Ren Jien Zhong spends much time interacting with students daily. Talking to him has given us some insight on the foreign students at our university. Jien Zhong commends most of the foreign students on their behaviour describing them as "polite and friendly". He explains that some students are not as friendly though and the language barrier makes it difficult to communicate.
Becoming friends with all the foreign students and learning to understand each other is all that Jien Zhong hopes for. "If our communication is better we'll all be happier." He concludes with a smile.
Protecting someone or something is considered as one of the most daring as well as drooping job of all times. Mr. Shan Pei (50) serving his noble duties as a security guard at the library of HBNU, for which he works from dawn to dusk from the past 4 years. He narrates that, "As a security guard in this library I have seen many faces of joy, satisfaction, determination and success as well as faces full of anxiety due to exams. I advice all the students to work hard as your future depends on it as well as your country's future."
Fu Xing Pang (40) and Hue Yue (40) have been providing the HBNU students with delicious meals for the past seven years. They came from Baoding and decided to open their food business. "People usually know me as Hu Yue, but when I get my apron on and stand behind this stall, I only hear 'Ayi' ." Hu Yue says. When asked what their thoughts were about the foreign students studying at HBNU, they both smile and say "The foreign students remind us of our two sons. When we see them working so hard and being so dedicated to their studies, we see them as our own children."
